Reliability Engineer

PBS (Ponticelli UK) are looking for Reliability Engineer to join our team and reporting to Reliability Lead.


• Provide input into the reliability discipline budget and ensure closure expenditure is within acceptable % of original budget
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with discipline engineers by pro-actively interfacing with them on Reliability and CBM improvements/issues in their discipline
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with vendor engineers /management through effective communication and by proactively addressing reliability improvements on  their equipment packages
• Support reliability reviews and studies into equipment problems and propose improvements
• Proactively monitor, review / analyse plant & equipment performance. Provide feedback to Line Management, identifying opportunities to maximise production /performance and share best practice across assets
• Responsible for ensuring Equipment Failure reports are generated from site and followed up onshore for root cause analysis
• Conduct root cause analysis on failures and report back to Discipline Leads / Maintenance Manager. Identify clear actions and follow up closure of the actions
• Review equipment criticality assessment and assess effectiveness of maintenance and spares strategies ensuring the optimum level of maintenance and spares are held updating the assets strategy as appropriate
• Support development of a monthly presentation by discipline of status of CBM /Reliability of Critical equipment clearly highlighting actions to be taken along with improvements made
• On annual basis produce a summary report on the health of the CBM being applied & the actual Reliability, highlighting improvements made and actions required
• Prepare scopes of work for vendor services, make recommendations on preferred contractors and co-ordinate vendors, materials, and equipment for planned and unplanned activities, monitoring and controlling manpower usage, vendor/contractor performance and expenditure. Support as appropriate, in vendor/contractor audits
• Apply LEAN process to optimise Maintenance
• Identify opportunities to improve contractor/supplier performance, reduce costs and improve the quality of services/products supplied



Performance of the condition-based maintenance contractors ensuring the provision of specialist technical/engineering advice and guidance to site personnel.

• Implementation of the Asset CBM strategy to ensure that it drives optimum CBM data collection / interpretation and actions leading to timely interventions or extension of planned maintenance frequencies
• Advising the asset in CBM technology and methods
• Production of monthly status reports across disciplines relating to CBM & Reliability, ensuring actions are progessed
• Periodic review of CBM software. Identify any performance enhancements to improve CBM software/diagnostic capability
• Assisting Discipline engineers in the production of the Annual Reliability reports and the associated improvement plans
• Technical decision-making process relating to reliability
• Ensuring highest safety standards with continuity and optimisation of hydrocarbon production

Developing and maintaining productive and constructive relationships with site-based personnel, onshore operations/technical teams and external contractors/vendors


Qualifications/Experience required:

• Proven work/professional experience in a similar position within the Oil & Gas industry
• Degree in Engineering/Technical discipline, Chartered status or working towards Chartered status
• Knowledge of Reliability management and Condition Based Monitoring techniques across multiple disciplines
• Previous experience of diagnostic software and PI historian
• Competent in the use of the CMS and SAP Maintenance Module
• Strong interpersonal, communication skills both verbally and written whilst building/maintaining relationships
• Team working, building, and maintaining effective working relationships
• HSE & Quality awareness
