Lead Technical Safety Engineer

PBS (Semco UK) are looking for a Lead Technical Safety Engineer to join our team. This role is overall responsible for GMOC Technical HSE engineering, whether performed in house or by external Engineering Consultants.


  • Organise, plan and coordinate the Technical HSE engineering activities of studies, and modification projects (RFM), in conjunction with the other technical leads, project management and construction.
  • Establish relationships with Consultants for provision of engineering services, and management of specialist Technical HSE engineering software requirements.
  • Study Lead for single discipline and Technical HSE-led multidiscipline studies; originator of Statement of Requirements, Basis of Design and other principal technical documents.
  • Recruitment and personnel management of discipline engineering resources.
  • Definition and development of Technical HSE discipline engineering and procurement deliverables for in house work for studies and RFM projects (Class 3,4,5). Responsible for the discipline scope of work definition for Class 1 & 2 RFM projects before it will be submitted to Engineering Consultants.
  • Quality assurance of all discipline engineering deliverables, including review and approval of Engineering Consultants and other 3rd party specialists.
  • Preparation of discipline engineering manhour estimates, and review of estimates developed by Engineering Consultants.
  • Mentoring and other professional development activities in support of discipline engineering staff
  • Any other duties as required by Lead Engineering & Construction and Senior Management
  • Facilitating project safety and other formal technical reviews, and administration of post review action closure.

 Qualifications/Experience required:

  • Proven oil & gas industry experience in a similar position
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Honours or above), Professional/Chartered Engineer (preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in application of Technical HSE techniques and processes to multi-discipline engineering design
  • Experience in Brownfield Engineering for Plant Modifications
