Duthie Park’s Winter Wonder Wander 2025 Opens – Sponsored by PBS

Aberdeen’s Duthie Park is sparkling once again as the Winter Wonder Wander opens tonight, transforming one of the city’s most beloved green spaces into a glowing wonderland of light!

Leading visitors through this year’s illuminated route is a familiar local favourite: Spike “The Talking Cactus”, a long-time resident of the David Welch Winter Gardens and a cherished part of Duthie Park’s character. Spike is once again helping guide guests through the gardens — with a little help from PBS this year’s event sponsor. Visitors will spot Spike’s footprints, each one marked with the PBS logo, scattered along the pathways to light the way through the dazzling displays.

Organised by the Friends of Duthie Park, the Winter Wonder Wander showcases the group’s dedication to keeping the park welcoming, accessible, and engaging for everyone. Each year, their efforts bring together families, friends, and visitors from near and far to enjoy the park’s winter magic after dark.

With glowing pathways, sparkling displays, and Spike’s friendly voice guiding the journey, this year’s Wonder Wander offers the perfect mix of nostalgia and new delight — proving that some traditions only grow brighter with time.

So follow Spike’s footprints, take in the glow, and let PBS lead you through a night of wonder at Duthie Park.
