Successful & safe major shutdown campaign

PBS delivered a complex major North Sea asset shutdown on time, on budget and with zero safety incidents.
Challenge

Tight Schedule and Complex Demands.

An optimistic schedule and late decision to re-route the oil export route during a major North Sea shutdown campaign resulted in condensed lead times for proposal reviews, contract awards and ensuring workforce availability.
SOLUTION

Safe, On-Time Shutdown Success.

PBS harnessed its multi-skilled workforce and ability to scale to drive this shutdown project forward. Preparatory planning was undertaken onshore in the PBS SMART room to optimise bed space for the delivery of works , including the operating, repair and abandonment (ORA) and decommissioning, late life and restoration (DLR) activities.

+5 years Asset life extension

Zero injuries or near misses

Zero hydrocarbon releases

Critical Scopes Completed

ORAs & DLRs Removed

RESULTS & IMPACTS

Delivering Multi-Million Pound Savings.

This 2023 shutdown was one of the most challenging to be undertaken in the North Sea for several years. Despite these obstacles, we successfully completed this campaign within a reasonably time frame with no injuries, near misses or hydrocarbon releases. All critical path scopes were completed, as was the alternative oil export route. We extended the life of this asset by a minimum of five years.

“Operations are only as strong as the people behind them. My focus is on supporting our teams, leading with integrity, and ensuring excellence in every project we deliver.”
